The most common thing I am asked online is "are you Navy ?" Well no I´m not. The only naval connection is that my brother-in-law is an ex-submariner. However, I can swim ;-)
The nick comes from an old English childrens´ TV show, called "Squiddley Diddley". He was a puppet in the 1960´s who entertained (?) thousands on a tea-time programme.
When I first had to choose a nick when I went online in `95 this was the one that sprang to mind - and stuck. |

I´ve searched high and low for a graphic of Squiddley Diddley, but to no avail. I´d be very grateful if any visitors come across one. Please let me know. |

Squiddley and Mrs. Squiddley live and work in Hong Kong, which reverted to Chinese sovereignty on 1st July 1997 after over 150 years of British colonial administration. |

Both Mrs. Squiddley and I work at the airport, and made the transition along with the other umpteen thousand support staff from Kai Tak to the new airport site at Chek Lap Kok (CLK).
The old airport, Kai Tak was/is situated on the Kowloon peninsula. Its unique location made for one of the most notorious and demanding landings in the world. Although only having one runway, Kai Tak was in the top 10 of the busiest airports worldwide. |

The picture above shows the runway of Kai Tak sticking out into the sea, and is a time-lapse shot. For those interested, there will be links to sites with some more hairy shots and if space permits, I´ll try and dig some up to show here. |
